MAYA ELSTON - BRIEF RESUME:

Maya had traditional academic education including five years of art school majoring in paintings, followed by six years in the Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria, graduating in mural paintings. Her work has been exhibited at a personal show and at national art exhibitions in Sofia, Prague, Bratislava, Moscow, Petersburg and Hamburg. All work created at this time was purchased for presidential residencies, major art collections and hotel complexes. In addition to her involvement with the activity of the Bulgarian Union of Artists where she was the chairman of the Mosaic group, she had received national prizes for her artistic work.

Being trained also in art conservation, for twenty years, from 1983 to 2003, she worked full time at the J. P. Getty Museum as an associate conservator for the Department of Greek and Roman Antiquities, traveled abroad for lecturing, and published extensively about her projects.
